DescriptionSilver pitcher with an apple-shaped body with a flat base and decorated with broad, round-top reeds encircling its lower portion. It has a reeded neck and an everted poring spout, both edged in a continuous applied, moulding, and an angular, broken-scroll handle.
Label TextHarkening back to ancient Greece and Rome, silver pitchers became more popular with the inception of the neoclassical aesthetic movement. This attractive example was created by Andrew Ellicott Warner, Baltimore's most prominent silversmith. It dates from the period where silver produced in that city was struck with assay marks which imitated British Hallmarks, including a "D" for the year 1818.
InscribedBottom scratched with the weight marking "11 - 13."
