DescriptionPair of garter buckles, each an Oval steel frame with shaped reserves for eighteen round clear paste or glass “stones”. Steel cross bar with hinged fluke (“whale’s tail”) and two shaped, curved and pointed tines.
Label TextA garter buckles secured the garter or narrow band of fabric that held up a gentleman or lady’s stocking. Pairs of these tiny fasteners are rare survivals today. These garter buckles set with paste or glass imitations of diamonds are in especially fine condition.
