DescriptionOnslow pattern silver sauce ladle: Round, almost hemispherical bowl with long handle terminating in a cast and soldered downturned flaring scroll.
Label TextSmall ladles such were used with both silver and ceramic sauceboats. This pattern is popularly known as "Onslow", althought it is not clear where or when that name becamed associated with this scrolled design.
MarkingsBack of handle struck with 1) script sponsor's mark "GS" ina retangle [Grimwade 1990, #906]; 2) lion passant; 3) leopard's head crowned; 4) date letter "T" for 1774-75
