DescriptionPair of salt cellars with glass liners, each composed of an openwork oval frame pierced with elongated rectangles and pie-crust edges set on four tall legs with pad feet. An impressed band of incised bellflowers frames the top and bottom of the pierced gallery. Its clear glass liners are replacements.InscribedEach engraved "MC" in script capitals on a solid panel in the center of the gallery. Only #1 is scratched with the weight marks of "1 = 12" and "1 12" on the bottom rim.
MarkingsThe first of the pair is struck with “IA” in relief within a rounded rectangle on the bottom rim, while the other (2) is unmarked.
