DescriptionSmall plate of circular ogee-shape decorated in brown Fitzhugh pattern with a central medallion enclosing a script "H." The plate is from the service of the Hone family of New York.
Label TextFrom a service ordered for John Hone II (1796-1829) probably upon his marriage in 1818 to Marie Antoinette Kane (1798-1869), this small plate adds to Colonial Williamsburg's collection of Chinese porcelain with histories of ownership in America. John Hone II was the nephew of Philip Hone, businessman and mayor of New York, and son of John Hone (1764-1832). Philip and John Hone began a successful auction firm in which John Hone II later worked, as well.
