DescriptionSilver soup ladle: Long, arched, down-turned fiddle handle with sharp, flaring shoulders at juncture to deep oval bowl with plain back.Label TextThe name of William Hilliard (Hillard) appears in county records and newspapers as a silversmith, watchmaker, and jeweler in Fayetteville, North Carolina, between April 1801 and November 1814. Few examples of silver made in North Carolina survive today; this is the first example to enter the Colonial Williamsburg collection.
