DescriptionRummer: square lemon squeezer foot supports cup-shaped bowl engraved with a hatched border with suspended tassels; the bowl engraved with Masonic symbols and the cypher "PMR" in flourishing script.Label TextAmerican newspapers record the availability of glassware including beakers and rummers engraved with Masonic symbols to consumers in the 18th and early 19th centuries. Lodge proceedings also record special orders of masonic engraved glasses for use by specific Lodges, even listing bespoke orders purchased from factors in England. This rummer could have been part of a larger set for an individual with the initials "PMR" who wished to proclaim his role as a Freemason.
