DescriptionClose stool: lid is constructed with flush cleats at ends and all upper edges are bead molded. The iron hinges and screws are modern replacements. The skirts are shaped with boldly scalloped lower edges. The legs below the skirt framing are taper turned and terminate in club feet with cushions. The pine seat board immediately beneath lid is cut in center with a beveled edge hole nearly 9" in diameter, the board being supported on cleats. There are other cleats below which may have supported a secondary board.
