DescriptionThe bottom margin reads: "THE ENGLISH LION DISMEMBER'D/ Or the Voice of the Public for an enquiry into the Loss of Minorca with Ad:l B . . g's plea before his Examiners./ Publish'd according to Act of Parliament. Sold by the Printsellers of London and Westminster."

A lion appears in the front, paws inscribed: "Nova Scotia", "Oswego", and "Minorca". This last has been cut off, and the name of the third paw partly burnished out. The Frenchmen stand behind demanding all the paws. On the other side, the Lord Mayor of London and aids protest this cutting off the limbs and demand to know where the blame for such lies. The aids have various comments on the blame of such things. In the front a French Cook tramples on, and tears the British Flag and threatens more. A verse beneath the picture is as follows: "B..g's Plea."; With thirteen Ships to twelve says B--g; It were a shame to meet'em; And then with twelve a thing; Impossible to beat em; When more to many less a few; And even still not right; Arithmetic will plainly shew; Where wrong in B--to fight."
