Label TextThis shows a number of bears and bulls fighting, while 3 ducks waddle away. Three men look on. "Bulls", "Bears", and "Lame Ducks" are terms applied to stock-jobbers in Change-Alley, London; their meanings and an early example of the use of these words are displayed here, and in other cartoons. One of the bears carries a satchel marked -5000 Scrip. Lord Holland, as a fox, looks on and says:- "the more they fight the more I get." A gentlemen stares up to the sky and declares: this will ruin Public Credit. A Jewish stock-broker is delighted and says:- "Oh for de Charming Scrip!" A gentleman holds up a large bag of money and exclaims with rapture: "-5000 for telling one Lye." A wolf looks from a window and writes on a paper, 200000 1781-6.
