DescriptionInverted bell-shaped body with plain rim; short tapered circular foot; solder visible on bottom seam where foot joins with body; thin ribbed s-scroll handle soldered to rim and lower body; face of body with initials "SE" in sprig script within elaborate bright-cut and wriggle work mantling; "Gift of Mary Elmendorf" engraved in script on face of foot.
Label TextThis small cup was given to Sarah Elmendorf (ca.1793-1813) of Albany County, New York, perhaps as a memento from her grandmother Mary Elmendorf (1721-1794), who died shortly after Sarah’s birth.
InscribedInitials "SE" on face of body; "Gift of Mary Elmendorf" on face of foot.

"Gift of Mary Elmendorf" (1721-1794), engraved is script letters on face of foot and cypher "SE" within an elaborate bright-cut and prick-engraved cartouche on face of body for her granddaughter, Sarah Elemdorf (1793-1813).

Originally belonged the daughter of Peter Edmund Elmendorf II and his first wife Elizabeth Van Renselaer, Sarah Elmendorf (1793-1813), who received it as a gift from her grandmother Mary Elmendorf (1721-1794) according to the inscriptions and is a part of the Glen-Sanders Collection.
