DescriptionAppearance: Rectangular game table, triple-folding top with "square" front corners; top leaf opens to form square surface covered with green baize; second leaf opens to reveal square wood surface inlaid with checker and backgammon boards; four, small, brass bound holes in board receive open, folding, square backgammon frame which, when not in use, is stored in compartment beneath the bottom leaf of the table, behind the front skirt; plain, straight skirt, veneered on all four sides; four plain cabriole legs with sharp knees, terminating in pad feet on high discs; left rear leg swings out to support lower leaf; small, hinged piece of wood swings up from gate to form support for upper leaf. (Because of the construction of the table with three leaves, this device for adjusting the height of the gate is necessary to allow for a flat surface for each leaf.)Woods: Primary: mahogany and mahogany veneer on oak; Secondary: oak gate; inlays: boxwood and ebony
Label TextThis gaming table has an additional refinement of a double purpose top -- one surface for card playing and a second for backgammon and checkers (or "draughts"). The three tiered top has been cleverly designed to accommodate these multiple functions.
