DescriptionFan of parchment or paper mount painted in the style of Jean Pillement, with a lady dressed in pink, and four children playing by a river. On the reverse is a landscape with a small girl holding a bird captive on a long ribbon streamer. The top and bottom of the fan is edged in gold tape. The ivory sticks are carved with suns and cherubs. Over the center two sticks is the image of a sun st the center of a medallion suspended from a ribbon tied into a bow. The sticks on either side of the center alternated depicting urns and cherubs. The sticks of the guards are decorated with a shallow carving of a vertical vine motif that terminates where the mount begins. The top of the guards are heavily carved and depict images of (from the base to the top) a goblet, a bush or topiary growing from a vase, two birds (one perched on the topiary, the other in flight), the image of an anthropomorfized sun similar to the image at the center of the sticks, and a cherub. Carved vines border these images and pink micah is placed behind the carvings on the guards. Each carving is decorated with gilt.
