Ivory sticks pierced with ribbon scrolls and medallins embellished with polychrome and gilt paint depicting flowers and fruits. The center of the sticks is carved and painted chinoiserie figures. Lace and fan were joined later in life. Lace may be a Craft-revival lace from Burano, Italy.Construction History:
1. Sticks constructed 1750-1760
2. Lace constructed ca. 1890 during the revival of the Venetian lace industry at the Burano Lace School.
3. It is likely the lace and the sticks were joined in the early 20th century.
