DescriptionA pair of buff leather gloves with gauntlets divided into scalloped panels of embroidered purple silk; these are whip stitched to the leather portion of the gloves. The embroidery depicts floral motifs in green, pink, and blue silk embroidery thread, as well as carnations and pineapples. The gauntlets are lined with purple silk, which is secured onto the fashion fabric with an overcast stitch. The thumbs are missing from both gloves. Stitches used include couching, French knot, satin, single, and split.Construction History:
1. circa 1610- Initial Construction
2. Date Unknown- thumb pieces and fringe trim removed
3. Date Unknown- glove cut away below gauntlet and restitched.
