ProvenanceThis watch was owned by Robert Carter of Nomini Hall (father of Counsellor Robert Carter), whose father, Robert ("King") Carter owned another Tompion watch (now exhibited at Christ Church in Irvington, VA). The donor is descended from Robert Carter of Nomini Hall through her great-great-great-grandmother, Elizabeth Carter Willis, daughter of Robert Carter and sister of Counsellor Robert Carter.
