DescriptionAppearance: Splat back side chair with serpentine crest rail with C-scroll and acanthus leaf wedge section in center and flaring ears; rear stiles with rounded backs above seat rails splay inward toward feet; pierced owl's eye splat; molded shoe; beaded edge on front and side seat rails; front edge of front legs beaded; front and rear legs chamfered on inside, stretcher assembly with one rear stretcher; rear legs rake back.Construction: All parts are of mahogany except as noted; stiles and splat tenoned into crest rail; base of splat tenoned into shoe which is glued to rear seat rail; all seat rails tenoned into legs; front and side seat rails rabbeted to accept slip seat; side elements of maple; slip seat tenoned into front and rear elements; original quarter round block glued and nailed into right corner, left block replaced, two diagonal blocks in rear glued and nailed; side and rear stretchers tenoned into legs, medial stretcher tenoned into side stretchers.
