DescriptionTray of rectangular form: edges of sheet bent up, lapped and riveted at corners to form upturned, flared rim. Rim has ornamental indentations near corners with intervening spaces scalloped and pierced to form complex guilloche pattern. Tray covered by dark ground with some areas of tortoiseshell-like coloration. Center of trays bear painting of lowers and foliage surrounded by sprays of wildflowers; shadows of guilloche-with-dot border, probably gilded, near edge of tray with shadows of anthemion decoration emanating from corners.
