Label TextSir John Vanbrugh (1664-1726) was an English architect, playwright and member of the Kit-Cat Club. He is best known for desiging Bleheim Palace and Castle Howard. He also designed the Belevedere Tower depicted in the background of the portrait print of Thomas Pelham-Holles, 1st Duke of Newcastle and Henry Clinton, 7th Earl of Lincoln (1982-80).
