DescriptionRectangular white corded quilt with a design consisting of a central basket of flowers within a scalloped circle, surrounded by an inner border of flowers, each within a scalloped compartment. There is a basket of flowers in a fan-shaped enclosure in each of four corners. This is surrounded by a wide band of scrolling leaves and a narrow outermost border of chains with each link filled by a single flower. Binding is tabby-woven linen. Quilting technique consists of narrow channels formed by linen running stitches through face fabric and lining, with cotton cords pulled through the channels to form a raised effect.Label TextThis exceptional white cord quilt is produced by hand stitching parallel rows to form channels through which cotton cord is drawn from the back. The cord raises the design in relief and shows as a raised line in normal light (a shadow when seen in backlight, as photographed). This quilt is the work of a professional stitcher.
