DescriptionBamboo design armchair; all members cylindrical in section with bamboo turnings; straight top rail and straight, tapering sides; back composed of a series of bamboo-turned members arranged to form rectangles of various sizes; arm rail curves out from stile and is straight until point where it joins downward-curving arm support; area beneath arm composed of rectangles similar in form to those in back; "square" dished seat formed by bowed front and rear rails; all four legs, cylindrical in section; bowed, iron brackets support front legs on either side; rear legs supported by bowed wooden bracket (left one missing); three, cylindrical stretchers, one at each side and one medial; entire surface japanned.Markings"II" on front and back of slip seat frame
