DescriptionAppearance: Backstool with serpentine crest rail; trapezoidal seat intended to be upholstered over the rails; straight legs, square in cross section, rear legs kick backwards; two side, one medial, and one rear stretcher, all rectangular in cross section.

Construction: Serpentine deal crest rail and deal bottom rail through-tenoned into deal stiles; shaped deal upholstery peaks glued to front of each stile at top; back assembly glued and nailed to mahogany rear legs; two diagonal oak corner braces half-dovetailed into front corners of seat assembly; mahogany rear and side stretchers tenoned into mahogany legs; mahogany medial stretcher tenoned into side stretchers.
Markings"1263" chalked on top of bottom back rail in modern hand; "[illeg.] B" in red on back of rear seat rail.
