DescriptionRe-stocked British Short Land Pattern musket (Pattern 1769) incorporating a French Model 1728 styled lock.Label TextPerhaps the most common type of American-assembled musket was the straight up restock, where a broken musket of whatever national origin, received a new wooden stock. This cherry example falls just short of being a restocked “Brown Bess” of the Short Land Pattern sort. In place of the expected TOWER marked British military lock, it was built with a French musket lock of the Model 1728 type.
