DescriptionCylindrical socket with gadrooned molded rim, inward curved sides, and gadrooned molding above cupped lower section; central part of stem of inverted baluster form with swirled shaping to the upper face; banded with spiral fluting at top and gadrooned band at shoulder; resinous interior weighting of upper part of base and oak block with traces of green baize let in lower part of base. Uninscribed as to owner.Label TextMarked candlesticks of this contrasting early type by Joseph Hancock and Tudor & Leader, both of Sheffield, and by Boulton & Fothergill of Birmingham are recorded. This pair of tapersticks lack their removable nozzles.
