DescriptionPurse of linen canvas embroidered in polychrome silks and metallic cord in tent stitch (petit point). One side has flowers in each corner and an oval frame with inscription framing picture of man at center. Embroidered within the oval frame is the phrase "A Gift to Thee Trew Fr[ie]nd". The other side has same design with the central picture depicting a woman and the words "Let Love Abyde til Death Divide". Tassels at top are of twisted floss silk. Tassels on the bottom are of silk and metallic cord worked on a paper form. The interior is lined with carnation silk. It is likely that there was an additional strap that would have been attached near the tassels on either side of the bag top that has since been lost.
