DescriptionThis is a circular beadwork basket consisting of a wire frame covered in blue and white beads. Throughout this framework are individual leaf and flower forms made of polychrome beads. Along the top edge of the frame are a series of eight bows of faded pink ribbon.Label TextThis basket, covered in leaves, flowers, and fruit, is made entirely of miniscule beads. It is an example of beadwork, a type of art commonly practiced by teenaged girls from wealthy families in late seventeenth-century England. This basket was likely used as a table centerpiece, drawing the eye toward its vibrant colors.
