DescriptionAppearance: Concave crest rail with rounded ears; vase and shaft turned rear stiles; vasiform solid splat set between crest rail and plain splat rail; trapezoidal rush seat; turned front legs extend above seat rails slightly and end below with heavy disc and pad feet; plain turned rear legs; ball and ring turned front stretcher; two plain turned stretchers on each side and one at rear.Construction: All parts are of hard maple except as noted; stiles and white pine splat tenoned into crest rail, stiles secured with nails; splat tenoned into splat rail which is tenoned into each stile; all seat rails tenoned into legs; seat rails covered with woven rush seat; all stretchers tenoned into legs; side and rear stretchers made of oak.
Markings"M W N" scribed on front of crest rail; "MIMIM" scribed on front of splat; two rows of tack holes on left stile below upper turning; small adhesive tag on right leg with number "12" written on it.
