DescriptionFan with painted paper mount with five panels alternating blue and red. The three blue panels contain cartouches outlined in gold of young men and women in landscapes at the fan sides and center. Surrounding the cartouches are vine-like floral motifs. Between the blue panels are two rust panels with gold cartouches containing floral sprays and surrounding by white, stylised floral and vine motifs on a crosshatched ground. The reverse depicts a shepherd and shepherdess in landscape. The top edge of the reverse is decorated in scrollwork of blues and purples. Gold tape binds the top edge of the fan. The ivory sticks and guards are plain with notched edges.Construction History:
1. 1760-1770: Initially constructed
2. Unknown Date: The reverse of the fan was heavily patched and painted, particularly along the sides, preventing easy movement.
3. March 15, 1954: Cleaning, repairing, restoring by Ernest LoNano for Margaret Hunter Shop (possibly did repair above?)
