DescriptionCopperplate printed cotton "furniture" bed valance with scenes taken from five the satirical prints by Henry Bunbury (1750-1811). Bunbury's "A Scene from Camp" makes the overall theme for the print. The three horses and riders were taken from the 1781 series "Hints to bad Horsemen." Specifically the prints "Symptoms of Restiveness," "Symptoms of Starting," and "Symptoms of Tumbling" were used for this print. A sutler tent stands in the back with the sign "Good Wine." The farm has a sign on its front that reads "AI" or "AJ."

This long narrow peice made up a bed valance that probably matched a full set of bed curtains, window hangings, and furniture slipcovers all "en suite" of the same fabric.
