DescriptionRectangular coverlet woven in overshot technique in geometric pattern of blue-black and coral-red wool with natural cotton tabby (plain) weave ground. The pattern is based on a square grid of diagonals, checks, and stripes of various width created by the wool pattern weft. Woven in two panels and hand seamed at center. Selvage edges have 1/4-inch rolled hem; the bottom and top edges have half-inch folded hem. Fragile condition.ProvenanceDescended in the Howe family, Pulaski, Virginia
