DescriptionBlack hat styled in three cornered or cocked style. Hat is made of black silk satin over stiffened (probably paperboard) form, trimmed around edges with metallic gold-colored braid and white feathers. Interior crown has printed label: "Paris, London, Chicago, New York, Premium Quality."
Label TextThis hat was worn with a fancy dress suit in New York about 1900. Although the style derives from the eighteenth century, the styling and construction mark the hat as a costume. For suit, see 1985-264.
