DescriptionMusic stand; top composed of openwork, rectangular base w/ratchet grooves on either side; folding upwards at front is a flat, rectangular surface with battened ends, surrounded by carved, foliate molding; plain music rest at front; plain, rectangular candle slides, slide outward from frame; top supported by rectangular, open brace which fits into ratchet grooves to make top adjustable; top rests on turned, cylindrical column, ring-turned at top and bottom, fluted for main portion; small hole in one side of column originally probably held a screw or pull, which by pushing in or out enabled the top to be raised or lowered on a post which is doweled through the central part of the column; supported on three cabriole legs with sharp knees terminating in slipper feet on pads; each knee carved with acanthus foliage banded at center.
