DescriptionThree quarter length portrait of a standing girl turned slightly to viewer's left. She bears a basket of red and pink flowers on her anatomical left arm and holds a spray of blossoms in her other hand. She wears a bright blue dress with standing lace trim surrounding the wide meckline and a double strand of coral beads. Her brown hair is cut short and straight with a side part. She has dark brown eyes. The background is painted overall without accessories.Label TextCircumstantial evidence strongly suggests that Noah North apprenticed to Milton Hopkins, and the close similarities between their painting styles have long confused their work. The discovery of additional, more clearly ascribed examples of their portraiture may clarify which of them was responsible for this like ness of a demure young girl.
