DescriptionThis two-part painted softwood corner cupboard featuring an upper display section behind a glazed door with nine lights, a lower storage section behind one paneled door, canted corners, and bracket feet is a design often seen in Pennsylvania.Label TextOriginally an English form, corner cupboards increasingly provided an economical and practical alternative to large kitchen dressers in German-American households.
Another corner cupboard, possibly made by the same cabinetmaker/decorator, is known. Both feature a nearly identical combination of painted meandering vines on the upper stiles and graining on the lower paneled doors that combine to resemble an enormous, upside-down tulip flower.
