DescriptionThis coverlet is single-woven in tied beiderwand construction of red, dark blue, and green wools with white cotton and a light blue supplementary thread of cotton. It is center-seamed; self-fringed bottom and sides; and has a turned-over hem at top. The side borders are twining grapevines. The lower border is a repeat of a basket of three roses over a row of eight-pointed stars. The corner blocks show stylized swag and tassel shapes at top, a reserve enclosing "OHIO." in the middle, and two cornucopias at bottom. The interior consists of repeated (5 vertical x 4 horizontal) foliage wreaths enclosing sprays of four tulips and eight leaves, with repeated scrolled designs between the wreathsMarkings"OHIO." is woven into each lower corner block.
