Label TextRobert Furber, horticulturist and member of the English Society of Gardeners, helped to underwrite the production cost of his decorative flower-print seed catalog by selling subscriptions in advance. A 1734 letter John Custis wrote to Robert Cary proves how important he thought this page was to having a complete set of catalog prints. “I am very much pleased with ye flower pieces you sent me,” Custis said, “by ye man has not done me justice in not sending the thirteenth print with ye subscribers names which I find he has sent to other Gentlemen, Coll. Lee for one, I hope you will order him to send it to me still.”
