DescriptionThis is a small square unfinished sampler from a work book stitched as an exercise. It is worked in faded shades of red, golden tan, brown, blue, green, and tan. It has an overcast 1/2 inch hem on all four sides. From the top the sampler consists of:
"A-M" uppercase block with square motif at end of row, worked in cross stitch
Simple band of back stitches
"N-Y" uppercase block with square motif at end of row, worked in cross stitch
Simple band of single row of cross stitch
"Z" upper case block; "1-12" worked in cross stitch
Simple band of back stitches
The bottom portion of the sampler consists of a centered house with five windows and two chimneys. It is flanked by two trees with branches in a diamond shape. There is an identified motif above the right tree.
The sampler is bordered in a row of brown cross stitches worked tight up to the hem.
