The lady has a coiffure which towers above her head, doubling her apparent height. She is courtesying to the great dismay of a gentleman who, before her entrance, had been reading a scroll which drops to the floor from the table where he had placed it. He rises so suddenly that the table is overthrown. A dog, cat, and parrot are equally astounded and alarmed.
