DescriptionA small leather case consisting of thin red Russia leather glued and tacked around a wooden (pine) block, with space left at the left end of the block to accommodate a container or instrument. Four holes are drilled into the block (drilled after the block already was leather covered), probably to hold four vials. One small clear glass vial with cork stopper remains.ProvenancePurchased for the collection by Jay Gaynor, Curator of Mechanical Arts, CWF, on eBay from Tim Rochester, Southern Encampments, 16380 South Fulwar Skipwith Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70810.
