DescriptionChild's shoe or ankle-height boot, one of a pair. The boot is made of blue leather with buttons on the side. Constructed with slightly squared toes and no heels. Linen lining.ProvenanceDescended in family of Robert Francis Travis Cole and Elizabeth Labby Cole of Williamsburg, Virginia. Family tradition stated that the shoes, a coat, and gloves were worn by Catharine Boush Cole, 1843- 1846. The shoes appear to date closer to ca. 1870, however, and may have been worn by Virginia Travis Cole, 1860-1867.
