DescriptionShallow plate with no foot ring. Bluish white tin-glaze decorated in blue, red, and green with a sketchily drawn landscape of buildings and trees; a building in the center appears to be a European-style bottle kiln with smoke issuing from its top. To the left of this kiln is an arch with dots, perhaps meant to represent a bridge?
Label TextThe image of a smoking bottle kiln is rare on British delft. Colonial Williamsburg owns a similar example of this plate in blue and white (accession # 1984-137); the colored decoration seen here makes this plate even more unusual.
