DescriptionPocket tool kit comprised of 1) oval tin box, 2a) a hammer consisting of a shank and screw -on head, 2b&c) two turnscrews, 2d) a saw blade, 2e) a chisel, 2f) a four-sided reamer, 2g) a file, 2h-j) three gimlet blades, 2k) a bradawl. All tools are interchangeable, and are fitted inside the tin box in three compartments, the center one for the mahogany and brass handle and two flanking compartments for the tools.
ProvenanceFound by Jay Gaynor at the Brown Tool Auction dealers' sale, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, October 23, 1998. Dealer, Tony Murland, reported to curator Jay Gaynor that he bought the kit at a David Stanley auction from a British rule dealer in Cheltenham. That dealer in turn had bought it at a car boot fair.
