DescriptionSide chair with a square back with a serpentine crest rail; three vertical banisters supported by horizontal stay rail; two outer banisters with blocked bases, tapered and carved with flutes surmounted by fan shaped leaves; center banister has a base consisting of an inverted fan of leaves topped by a horizontal band of molding, the main portion of the banister tapers towards base and is carved at the top with a half rosette above five graduated pendant bellflowers, top portion of banister has a horizontal molded band with fan shaped leaves above and five inverted lotus leaves across top; crest rail, stiles, and stay rail beaded on edges; stiles, rounded on rear, descend into rear legs, square in cross section, raked towards rear; front legs tapered and molded; front, medial, and rear stretchers rectangular in cross section; trapezoidal upholstered seat with original upholstery foundation.1795-1805
