DescriptionAgateware monkey-form teapot and cover, probably German, modeled after a Dutch Delft original, the simian seated on an oval mound base and holding a fruit-form cup to his mouth with both hands, its opening forming the spout, his brown looped tail forming the handle, and the upper half of his head forming the cover, the whole marbleized in cream, mocha-brown, and dark brown beneath an amber lead glaze.ProvenancePurchased from David Newbon, London, England, 2/1/1977
