Label TextThese leg shackles are constructed of four twisted iron links connecting an integral lock of the "half heart" type on one end and a series of eyelets and loops on the other. To "clamp" the intended individual, the length of the piece is looped through the two eyelets at one end with some twisting, resulting in a secure bind upon the first ankle. The second ankle is then secured by the other end with the padlock.1820-1830
