DescriptionChinese export porcelain ewer in silver shape. Fluted, baluster-form body is painted in black and silver opaque enamels beneath the spout: a European (possibly German) coat of arms beneath a forward-facing, barred helmet. The gilt coronet and peacock feather crest lies within iron-red, blue and gilt scrollwork. Colorful European-styled floral clusters, sprays and sprigs cover the lower body. The ovoid cover bears three floral sprigs. Each piece is encircled by an iron-red-edged gilt band at the rim and is pierced for a mount. Rust stains and 1/2" unglazed inner lip indicate mounts were present, now lost.
