DescriptionFragments of a bowl excavated from the site of Nicolson/Pasteur-Galt Apothecary, 17JA–0018Label TextPorcelains covered with a celadon glaze and decorated with incised designs, like this bowl, allude to the highly celebrated and valued ceramics produced during the Song (960–1270) and Yuan (1271–1368) dynasties. Made for the domestic market, these wares were also exported to the Middle East and Europe. However, finding celadon-decorated porcelain in a colonial American context is unusual.
