DescriptionSilver salts, each with a stepped low circular splayed foot supporting a hemispherical body, topped with an applied gadrooned band at its lip.
Label TextA scarce survival, this set of four salt cellars bear the mark of John Adam, one of a family of silversmiths who worked in Alexandria from the American Revolution through the early 20th century. The set dates from the city's golden years when Adam's business was booming, and he was offering a wide range of fancy goods, jewelry, and silver repair services.
