DescriptionTea light: two-part molded cylindrical body. A short cylindrical base with 6 holes pierced symmetrically around the sides, the cylindrical sides rising to a sharp rounded shoulder and the interior with a circular depression for a light; the underside of the foot with 4 irregular incised slash marks. The upper portion of a cylindrical castle tower-like shape with a slightly flared lower edge and an unglazed bezel that fits down into base; the cylindrical body rises to a cordon and 6 symmetrically pierced holes; the body then rises to an everted and stepped cylindrical gallery with a beaded edge; the interior with 5 irregular incised slash marks. Decorated with traces of gold bands at the foot, joints, cordon, and gallery. The foot painted with 6 abstract landscapes between the holes. The upper portion painted with 2 different landscapes, each with Italianate style buildings, a single figure, trees, and mountains.MarkingsThe underside of the foot with 4 irregular incised slash marks. ProvenanceOriginally purchased by Richard Jennings Tucker and his wife of New York and Bermuda or Robert and Sarah Tucker. Descended to Catharine Fitch Tucker [February 28, 1879-August 22, 1970] who gifted the piece to her niece, Joan Leonora Tucker Fowle [October 19, 1929-January 26, 2023], then it descended to Wendy Susan Tucker.
