DescriptionTeapot: short foot supports globular body that rises to a short cylindrical neck and topped by a low-domed and slightly flared lid with a short bezel and an inverted teardrop knop; a plain cylindrical and angular spout is opposite a plain ear-shaped handle; the spout with a three-hole grate; decorated in underglaze blue with a leafy floral and diaper border at the neck and around the body with riverscapes and landscapes including pagodas, trees, and rocks; the handle and spout with leafy flower trails; the lid painted en suite; the sides of the spout and the upper and lower terminals of the handle flanked with single leaves. The body, spout, handle, and lid over-painted (clobbered) with red. The interior of the neck and the bezel of the lid wiped of glaze.ProvenanceDescended in the Tucker families of New York and Bermuda. Passed down to Catharine Fitch Tucker [February 28, 1879-August 22, 1970] of Paget, Bermuda, who gifted the piece to her nephew, Edward Bolton (Teddy) Tucker, MBE [May 8, 1929-June 9, 2014]; it then descended to his daughter Wendy Susan Tucker who subsequently gifted it to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in 2024.
